bassline rave in london?

Sunday, 20 January 2008

Just got back from playing a set at Frequency Meets Pure Bass at Herbal in Shoreditch, London. There were promising signs of a growing demand in the capital for the dark, insane, twisted beats better known as Bassline - and believe me it's called Bassline for a good reason!

It's always good when you turn up to a club to find a sound system capable of handling disgusting basslines, and probably half the street the venue stands on was aware of what was going on inside the club. I was also happy to find a respectable mixing setup for the DJs to work with. Even when DJ Charma managed to destroy the crossfader, the engineers replaced it within seconds, as if they were in the pits for a Formula 1 racing team.

A good crowd of ravers turned up to enjoy a full night of new music, and with Wideboys, Paleface and RS on the line up it was almost like a competition to see who had the biggest new productions. That's the thing with Bassline addict ravers, they are always looking for the next hit of dubplate adrenaline, supplied by the latest "fresh from the studio" tracks.

Overall it was a good night with good vibes, hopefully we will see more Bassline nights popping up in the area. I'm pretty sure Frequency Meets Pure Bass will be back soon, so keep checking back here for more live dates to catch us soon.

Sus

P.S. Our apologies for Riplash's absence, I don't think BDM did too bad a job standing in.
